In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow. Tarmon Gai'don, the Last Battle, looms. And mankind is not ready. The final volume of the Wheel of Time, A Memory of Light, was partially written by Robert Jordan before his untimely passing in 2007. Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn books, and now Stormlight Archive, among others, was chosen by Jordan's editor--his wife, Harriet McDougal--to complete the final volume, later expanded to three books. In this epic novel, Robert Jordan's international bestselling series begins its dramatic conclusion. Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, struggles to unite a fractured network of kingdoms and alliances in preparation for the Last Battle. As he attempts to halt the Seanchan encroachment northward--wishing he could form at least a temporary truce with the invaders--his allies watch in terror the shadow that seems to be growing within the heart of the Dragon Reborn himself. Egwene al'Vere, the Amyrlin Seat of the rebel Aes Sedai, is a captive of the White Tower and subject to the whims of their tyrannical leader. As days tick toward the Seanchan attack she knows is imminent, Egwene works to hold together the disparate factions of Aes Sedai while providing leadership in the face of increasing uncertainty and despair. Her fight will prove the mettle of the Aes Sedai, and her conflict will decide the future of the White Tower--and possibly the world itself. Hello residents of /r/WOT ! I've been seeing a lot of posts on /r/Fantasy from users expressing a desire to start reading the WOT series, and I find myself providing the same advice and insight over and over again. With the recent announcement of a TV series being in the works, I think we'll be seeing a lot of these posts for the foreseeable future. So I'm going to compose my tips, thoughts and advice here, and just link this post from now on. Feel free to do the same if you so desire!

Wheel Of Time Book 11 14 Pdf Download

The Wheel of Time is an enormous and complex story, and shouldn't be approached lightly. It requires a bit of a commitment, if only due to the sheer size of it. If you do decide to give the Wheel of Time a try, then I strongly suggest you commit yourself to getting through book 3 at least. This is due to a few reasons..

  • Book 1 is an outlier both in terms of pacing and tone. It was written during an era where it was very difficult to get published as a fantasy author. The best way to get published back then was to try emulating Tolkien's Lord of the Rings to some extent. The Eye of the World is a good book, and the events fit in with the overall story very well, but it isn't really representative of the rest of the series.

  • Book 2 is where Robert Jordan starts to tell the story as he really wanted to, so the overall tone of the series changes noticeably. It opens up a few story arcs that aren't resolved by the end of the book (obviously), so it suffers from 'middle book syndrome' in that respect.

  • Book 3 resolves the various plot lines fairly well. All of the characters are back together, and everyone is on the same page (more or less). At this point, you've got a pretty good idea of Robert Jordan's writing style and how the story is going to progress. Book 3 also ends on a pretty strong note.

Yugioh tag force 5 iso download usa. If you aren't eager to get your hands on book 4, then this isn't the series for you. If the hook is set, and you're wanting to continue, then I suggest getting through book 6. Book 6 is (in my opinion) one of the strongest books in the series, and ends with one of the most significant events in the story.

I choose book 6 as a second cutoff point due to the infamous Wheel of Time 'slump' books that are coming up. The first 6 books are steady, and provide enough action and drama to keep readers interested. After book 6, Robert Jordan broadened the scope of the story considerably. To explain it in a way that spoils nothing - Robert Jordan initiates multiple large story arcs that could have filled out their own books, and tells them concurrently. The result is an overall slowdown in the action. So if you got through the first 6 books and find yourself bored, you're going to really struggle with the next 4.

The 'slump' books aren't bad by any means, but their slowness generated a lot of ill will towards the series while it was still being released. Ill will that you have undoubtedly seen if you've been on forums like /r/books or /r/fantasy . While I think that the hate is a bit overblown, it isn't entirely without merit. I probably would have given up on the series too if I had waited for years and gotten Crossroads of Twilight (book 10) as my reward. Actually, I think I would have mailed RJ a glitterbomb.. and the 'glitter' would have been my shredded copy of COT.

Wheel Of Time Book 12

Since all of the books are out now, the slump books aren't too bad. They are just the slow part in the middle that you'll appreciate in the later books.

Book 11 is where the action picks back up, and it's also Robert Jordan's final book before he passed away. If you're not familiar with the story here, the short version goes something like this..

Robert Jordan got diagnosed with a terminal illness about a year before his passing. He spent that year compiling notes, writing whole chapters and summaries, and flat out telling his staff how the story was supposed to end. So Brandon Sanderson didn't come in and write his own ending to the WOT. He took Robert Jordan's notes, filled in the gaps, and made it print-worthy. Brandon Sanderson didn't try to copy Robert Jordan's writing style, however. So the final 3 books are a bit different, but most WOT fans agree that Brandon Sanderson did an amazing job, especially given the circumstances.

Books 12 and 13 are a marathon of loose ends being tied at an astounding pace, and book 14 is one gigantic climax. I actually recommend that you have a few days of free time ahead of you when you pick up A Memory of Light.

A few extra tips and comments..

Wheel of time
  • Don't Google ANYTHING related to the the story. No names, places, or time periods.

  • Don't go on the WOT wikia. Ever. Don't even load up the main page. I know it's a wiki, but I swear it's been designed to spoil as much as possible, as fast as possible.

  • New Spring is a prequel, but it isn't meant to be read until you've gotten to book 9 or 10. Attempting to read it before reading The Eye of the World will leave you hopelessly lost, as it uses terminology and context that you won't have. Read it between books 9 and 10 IMO.

  • The Wheel of Time is very PG-13 when it comes to romance and violence. Those things are present, but they aren't described in any detail. So there won't be any enthralling sex scenes or longwinded explanations of blood spatter and gore.

  • Per /u/Lost_Afropick , RJ's portrayal of women (and gender roles overall) is a bit different from what we're used to seeing. In the interest of remaining completely spoiler free, all I can say is that there is a good reason for this. It's never explicitly explained, but if you pay attention you'll piece it together.

  • Per /u/Christendom , a tip for getting through the 'slump' is to listen to the audiobook versions for a change of pace. I'll go a step further and recommend the audiobook versions wholeheartedly. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading did a phenomenal job from start to finish.

  • Per /u/ambiturnal , /r/wot doesn't mind stupid questions mid-series, just as long as titles are non-spoilery. '[Spoilers, WH] Trying to remember where we first met Weiramon' will get a couple upvotes and the answer you're looking for, and friendly banter, and more importantly keep you from googling Weiramon, which will spoil later books during google's autocomplete.

  • Per /u/Buttstache , the prologue to The Eye of the World won't make any sense whatsoever to you. You didn't miss anything. You won't have the background to understand it until you're halfway through the series.

I hope this summary helps some new readers out. I hate to see people put the series down halfway through TEotW, or finding themselves unable to get through COT. If anyone has any suggestions for additional tips/comments, please make them and I'll edit this post when I can.
