How to use the Xbox 360 controller driver on OS X El Capitan? Submitted 3 years ago by Destyre. I attempted to connect my Xbox 360 Wireless controller through a Play and Charge USB cable. When I open up the Xbox 360 Controllers menu through my System Preferences, the pull-down menu only says 'No devices found'. You will require. Snow Leopard
I've released a version which will hopefully install and work fine on 32-bit Snow Leopard. It also contains 64-bit binaries, however I've been unable to test them because Apple have disabled my MacBook from booting into 64-bit mode. I have however been informed that 64-bit and 32-bit builds are both working.
ChatPad
I have got the Microsoft ChatPad working with my wired controller. The latest release of the driver includes support, and I'll be updating the USB information section of this website shortly. I've not yet checked the wireless receiver for compatibility.
Other info
Sadly, my PowerMac has died, which as my primary development machine has slowed progress.
I have added a version of the driver without support for the Guitar Hero controller, to allow the Guitar Hero for Mac game to work (it attempts to access hardware directly, which doesn't work if a real driver has claimed the device).
Help
If you find the driver does not work for you, please attempt and find out as much as you can about the device, preferably using the Apple 'USB Prober' application provided with the developer tools, but the output of System Profiler for the device may be enough. E-mail it back and I'll try and work with you to get it working.
Force feedback-enabled games
Games I've currently tested for force feedback support (only games that support basic rumble will probably function currently, as I've only implemented triangle, square and sine wave-type effects. I also lack any other force feedback device for comparison :) ):
Jammin' Racer - seems to work fine

You did not specify what controller you're using, or whether it's wired or wireless. I'm running High Sierra and my Xbox 360 wired controller works fine. Try disabling/enabling the driver once the controller is connected and see if that helps. |

I am also unable to get my controllers to work. Both of them are wired Xbox 360 controllers, but one is an original Xbox controller and the second is made by Afterglow (for Xbox 360). As the OP stated, my mac recognizes the controller under About this mac> System report> USB, but the software does not recognize either controller and says there is no device available. I'm having the same issue here. |

it looks like the developer left us. |

Actually, I made it. Just install normally and then go to SystemPreferences>Security & Privacy> Press 'Allow' on the bottom right. (Check the developer name) |

Did you mean 'FileVault'? (not 'Fire') |

I’m having the same problem with a wired xbox360 controller. It shows up in usb info, but I don’t get the controller icon in preferences. I’ve downloaded the driver but it won’t install. The Drew’s app does not show up in my General preferences, So I can’t manually authorize it. Please help |

Same here. Yes I have allowed the Drew Mills stuff and rebooted. Wired 360 and wireless One controller connected via MicroUSB both show up in system preferences but neither are found in the Xbox 360 preferences dialog. |

Since this issue has morphed and changed and deviated from any single issue, I am going to close it. If you still have an unresolved issue, open a new issue. |

Dear @FranticRain I appreciate your help. I'm not so sure this issue morphed and changed. It appears instead users like myself tried troubleshooting various options and suggestions in your absence. Did we ever land on a fix for using Xbox One original controllers with MacOS High Sierra? As it stands I can't enjoy playing Fortnite Duos with bae. I mean I could, but it would suck and I would hate it. Can we reopen/revisit this topic? |

360 Controller Driver Mac
@MiaSparx If you could make a new issue so that I could help fix your individual issue, that'd be excellent. The Xbox One controller via 360Controller works just fine with macOS High Sierra. I'm doing it right now. Although I would warn you that the mappings for Fortnight are known to not play well with the driver, at least from what I've been told. I wouldn't know. |
